Today we'll be replacing the seals on this Maytag French door Fridge / Freezer combo. This was necessary after 10 years with the gaskets cracking and mold forming. An attempt was made in this video to purchase from Ebay to see if that would save money, it only cost more in the end. Note the freezer was an OEM purchase.
A quick disassembly of some items is required on the left side door. Pulling off the door seals one by one, the amount of mold under the seal is evident. A cleaning with a disinfectant of the door and all mating surfaces is necessary before continuing. The pieces removed from the door maybe containing mold as well requiring cleaning.
I install the old seal after carefully straightening with a heat gun, after installation the heat gun is used again to help remove irregularities. With the hardware reinstalled on the left side door, a test of the seal was conducted and it just didn't seem right so i moved onto the other door and repeated the procedure.

Arriving, with better packaging and in better condition, these seals were installed in the same fashion though, with much better results. Just spending the day on the hood of the car in the sun all day was all that was needed to straighten it. With the fridge done moving onto the freezer, didn't look as bad but had a ton of mold behind it. Cleaning conducted just like the fridge door, the seal installed in the same manner.
