Keion Henderson should retire from preaching and just become a comedian.
That may sound harsh, but when you watch some of these sermon clips, it becomes harder and harder to tell whether we are watching biblical preaching or a comedy routine with a few church phrases sprinkled in. The pulpit is supposed to be a place where the Word of God is preached with seriousness, clarity, reverence, and truth. But too often, modern preaching has turned into entertainment, jokes, punchlines, crowd work, theatrics, and viral moments.

Let’s be clear: there is nothing wrong with a pastor having a sense of humor. A preacher can be funny. A preacher can use personality. A preacher can use illustrations. But humor should serve the message. Humor should not become the message. When the joke is stronger than the Scripture, when the punchline is more memorable than the passage, and when the crowd reaction becomes the goal, something has gone wrong.
This video is not about saying every sermon has to be boring or dry. Biblical preaching should be alive, passionate, and engaging. But there is a difference between engaging preaching and performance preaching. There is a difference between using humor to help people understand truth and using the Bible as a setup for jokes.
The church does not need comedians in the pulpit. The church needs faithful shepherds. The church needs men who will rightly divide the Word of truth. The church needs pastors who will preach Christ, call sinners to repentance, feed the sheep, correct error, and guard the flock from false teaching.
2 Timothy 4:2 says:
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”
That is the assignment. Not entertain the crowd. Not go viral. Not build a brand. Not turn the sermon into a stand-up special. Preach the Word.
When pastors become more known for funny clips than faithful exposition, that is a problem. When sermons become more about personality than Scripture, that is a problem. When the congregation is laughing more than they are being convicted, corrected, and taught, that is a problem.
Again, humor itself is not the issue. The issue is what dominates the pulpit. If the Bible is secondary, if the sermon is built around jokes, if the message feels like content instead of shepherding, then we need to call that out.
In this video, we are looking at Keion Henderson’s preaching style and asking a serious question: is this biblical preaching, or is this Christian comedy with a sermon title attached?
The pulpit is too serious for games. Souls are too valuable for entertainment-driven preaching. People do not need a pastor trying to be a celebrity comedian. They need the Word of God.
Hebrews 13:17 reminds us that pastors will give an account for how they watch over souls. That should put weight on every man who stands in the pulpit. Preaching is not a stage act. It is not a performance. It is a holy responsibility.
So yes, maybe Keion Henderson should retire from preaching and just become a comedian — because if comedy is the main thing, then call it what it is.
