I've heard "I Want to Be Happy" many times but never knew that it could be so meaningful until I heard Kathy sing it. I've never heard it sung as a heartfelt ballad either! From the 1924 musical, "No No Nanette". Released on the 1965 album, "Make Someone Happy". In 1924, "I Want to Be Happy" was a hit for Carl Fenton and His Orchestra, the Shannon Four and Vincent Lopez and His Orchestra. 1930 brought a remake version by Red Nichols and His Five Pennies. 1958 found the song turned into a cha-cha and a minor hit for Enoch Light and the Light Brigade.
