*** Graphic Content Showing Lions Eating Prey ***
We came upon the same group of lions we’d seen earlier in the same day in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, South Africa. In our most striking view of the safari, the lions were eating their prey from a very recent kill, about an hour prior. Our guide indicated the prey was a sub-adult kudu.

This group consisted of a dominant female, two juvenile males, and a lion cub. When we’d seen the group earlier in the day, our guide mentioned their bellies were full from a kill earlier the same day. So this was their second kill of the day and yet they devoured their meal with gusto.

This experience was part of The Great Southern African Safari organized by G Adventures working in partnership with National Geographic Expeditions.
