K9 TEAM TRACKS AGGRAVATED ASSAULT SUSPECT
On Thursday, September 6, 2018, Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) deputies responded to a call for service in reference to a man who had just attacked another man with a knife at the Nautilus Mobile Home Park located at 3441 South Pine Avenue in Ocala. The victim said that defendant Cody Michael Callahan (DOB: 12/21/1994), AKA "Brick," was going to move in with the vicitim at his camper until the victim found syringes in Callahan's things. The victim told him he couldn't stay, but woke up this morning to find Callahan in his camper. When he told Callahan to get out, the victim said that Callahan threatened him with a large kitchen knife and several punches were exhanged. The victim was not injured with the knife, but during the altercation, Callahan received a cut to his wrist from the knife. Callahan fled the location and MCSO K-9 Deputy Matthew Hooper and his K-9 partner "Rambo" tracked to his location and Callahan was taken into custody. Althought Callahan claimed to have discarded a small black case containing Marijuana when K-9 Deputy Hooper approached him, deputies found MDMA (Ecstasy) and Heroin in the container instead. Callahan was also wearing a necklace belonging to the victim at the time of his arrest.
While Callahan was at the hospital being treated for the injury to his wrist, he threatened hospital staff and deputies, saying that they all needed to watch their backs when he bonds out and that they messed up if they thought he was someone to mess with. He also made similar threats to MCSO Detention Deputies upon his arrival to the Marion County Jail. Here are his charges:
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Battery
Possession of MDMA
Possession of Heroin
Possession of Drug Equipment
1st Degree Petit Theft
