"Junebug"
June sits quietly at parties
Like a photograph on a wall
Then somebody laughs too suddenly
And she’s buzzing through the hall
Someone asks her what she’s thinking
She just presses up her lips
Then she’s weaving through the guests again
And around the bowls of chips
And they call her Junebug
Buzz buzz, buzzing by
Through the birthday cake and paper hats
Like she’s late for July
Junebug
Buzz buzz, don’t ask why
She’s the quietest girl you’ve ever met
Till she starts to fly
At the library on Wednesday
Everybody’s reading books
Then somebody turns a page too sharply
And she gets those Junebug looks
Mr. Jenkins drops his pencil
Mrs. Carter loses track
Junebug loops around the atlases
Then quietly drifts back
Junebug
Buzz buzz, buzzing through
Like a tiny propeller airplane
Following a map nobody drew
Junebug
Buzz buzz, circling round
She can make three laps of a reading room
With that soft familiar sound
Some folks say she hears a frequency
Nobody else can hear
Some folks think she’s looking for something
She hopes won’t appear
Old Miss Murphy swears she knew her
Back before the buzz began
But she never says what happened then
And nobody asks again
Sunday morning in the church pews
Everything is calm and still
Then a hymn book falls two rows behind her
And she’s drifting past the windowsill
Father Tom just keeps on preaching
Like he hasn’t seen a thing
‘Cause around here everybody knows
You can’t stop the buzz in spring
Junebug
Buzz buzz, there she goes
Through the casseroles and coffee cups
And between the folding rows
Junebug
Buzz buzz, passing through
She’s a quiet little mystery
In a cardigan and tennis shoes
June sits quietly at parties
Like she’s made of sleep and fog
Then somebody blinks and there she goes
Buzz buzz.

My Bowen Island Girl
🇨🇦☘️ 🇨🇦☘️ 🇨🇦☘️ 🇨🇦☘️ 🇨🇦☘️ 🇨🇦☘️
(Yeah, woo-oh-oh!)
Hey, hey, let’s go!
[Verse 1 ]
She played a hand drum down at Doc Morgan’s bar (hey!)
Tappin’ out a rhythm underneath the stars (woo!)
She asked me where I’m from, I said “Not too far,”
But tonight, this whole world’s ours
We took a ferry ride from Snug Cove to the moon (hey!)
Her laugh was a melody, a sweet Bowen tune (woo!)
By Killarney Lake, ‘ccompanied by the loons
I swore I’d see her again real soon
[Pre-Chorus ]
We were swayin’ down Bowen Bay
With the salt and cedar in the air that day
She stole my heart in a West Coast way
And I just had to say…
[Chorus ]
I met a Bowen Island girl, with her bare feet on the pier (hey!)
She danced like the tide rolls in, and the whole world disappeared (woo-oh-oh)
From Artisan Square to Tunstall Bay, she’s got my soul in a whirl (hey hey!)
Oh, my Bowen Island girl, yeah, my Bowen Island girl
[Verse 2 ]
We shared a sunset up on Mount Gardner’s crest (hey!)
The ocean spread wide, the sky was dressed (woo!)
In pink and gold, we just sat and confessed
That this island’s magic, and so’s the rest
We grabbed a coffee at the Snug Café
Talked about the ferry that’s late most days
She laughed out loud in that Bowen way
And I knew I just couldn’t stay away
[Pre-Chorus ]
We were swayin’ down Bowen Bay
With the driftwood bonfire keeping night at bay
She stole my heart in a West Coast way
And I just had to say…
[Chorus ]
I met a Bowen Island girl, with her bare feet on the pier (hey!)
She danced like the tide rolls in, and the whole world disappeared (woo-oh-oh)
From Artisan Square to Tunstall Bay, she’s got my soul in a whirl (ho ho!)
Oh, my Bowen Island girl, yeah, my Bowen Island girl
[Bridge]
Now every ferry ride (ride!) I’m thinking of her eyes (eyes!)
Every path through the forest, every painted sky (sky!)
From Deep Bay to Eagle Cliff, I’m hypnotized (woo!)
By that Bowen Island girl in the moonrise (moonrise!)
[Outro ]
Bowen Island girl… (hey hey hey)

![She is Lake Ontario
She is Lake Ontario
[Intro]
What lake is this?
Lake Ontario!
What name shall stand?
Lake Ontario!
[Verse 1]
They signed a page in Washington
And held it to the light
Then claimed a stroke of ink could make
An ancient name take flight
But paper cannot turn the tide
Or make the wind obey
She was Lake Ontario
And Ontario she’ll stay
[Chorus]
Heave away, Ontario
Let the cold northwester blow
From the Scarborough Bluffs to old Oswego
Every harbour, hull, and sailor knows
Print what you like upon the maps you show
She was Lake Ontario
She is Lake Ontario
And Lake Ontario she’ll stay
[Verse 2]
Before the stars and stripes were sewn
Before the maple flew
Her name came from the peoples here
Before those borders grew
No president invented her
No order made her waves
She rolled before their flags were flown
And she will roll beyond their days
[Chorus]
Heave away, Ontario
Let the cold northwester blow
From the Scarborough Bluffs to old Oswego
Every harbour, hull, and sailor knows
Print what you like upon the maps you show
She was Lake Ontario
She is Lake Ontario
And Lake Ontario she’ll stay
[Verse 3]
You may command your clerks to type
Whatever suits the day
And scrape the name Ontario
From every chart they make
From Kingston down to Rochester
The answer rides the spray
You haven’t changed the lake at all
You’ve only changed your page
[Chorus]
Heave away, Ontario
Let the cold northwester blow
From the Scarborough Bluffs to old Oswego
Every harbour, hull, and sailor knows
Print what you like upon the maps you show
She was Lake Ontario
She is Lake Ontario
And Lake Ontario she’ll stay
[Verse 4]
A lake that lies between two lands
Can’t bow to one alone
You named the whole as though the lake
Were yours and yours alone
The border’s drawn upon the map
But water slips away
No wave will carry a passport
No wind heeds what you say
[Breakdown]
Can ink command the water?
No!
Can one man own the shore?
No!
And what do we still call her?
Ontario evermore!
[Verse 5]
Raise a glass in Hamilton
Let Toronto join the song
From Picton through the Thousand Isles
Let every voice sing strong
For boastful names will come and go
Like foam upon the bay
But she was Lake Ontario
And Ontario she’ll stay
[Final Chorus]
Heave away, Ontario
Let the cold northwester blow
From the Scarborough Bluffs to old Oswego
Every harbour, hull, and sailor knows
Print what you like upon the maps you show
She was Lake Ontario
She is Lake Ontario
And Lake Ontario she’ll stay
[Outro]
She was Lake Ontario
Long before this present day
She was Lake Ontario
And Ontario she’ll stay She is Lake Ontario](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/IBhzaHIjxaQ/mqdefault.jpg)

![(Bowen Island) Rock in the Strait
Rock in the Strait (Bowen Island)
[Intro]
Yeah…
From the ferry dock to the deep woods…
Bowen stand up…
Ain’t no postcard here, this the real side.
[Verse 1]
Yo, I roll off the Queen of Cap, rain hittin’ my brim
Fog thick, cedar scent sinkin’ right in my skin
This that Gulf Island grit, no glitter, no gloss
Where the tide pull strong and the locals know the cost
Trail through the Douglas fir, keep your step tight
Cougars in the shadow and the moon don’t shine right
Killarney Lake still, but the air got weight
Out here respect’s earned, city boys meet fate
[Chorus]
Bowen Island, rock in the Strait, no bluff
Salt air in my lungs, yeah, the current’s rough
From Snug Cove docks to the mountain’s spine
We grind like the ferry runnin’ outta time
[Verse 2]
From Artisan Square to the backroad bends
Everybody know everybody, watch how you end
This ain’t Vancouver pace, nah, we move slow burn
But the gossip here travel faster than you learn
Eagles in the sky, fish boats down low
Even the calm tide hide an undertow
Winter storms hit, lights flicker, go black
That’s when you know who got your back, no slack
[Chorus]
Bowen Island, rock in the Strait, no bluff
Salt air in my lungs, yeah, the current’s rough
From Snug Cove docks to the mountain’s spine
We grind like the ferry runnin’ outta time
[Bridge]
No mall, no hype, just the forest and the swell
Some call it paradise, some call it a cell
Either way, when you’re here, you feel the pull in your chest
This the island that’ll put your city soul to the test
[Verse 3]
I’ve seen rich cats in cabins and broke kids in the rain
Artists with a dream, loggers workin’ with pain
It’s a mix, old blood and newcomers fight for ground
But the drumbeat of this place still pound for pound
Grew up on the dockside, watchin’ ferries fade
Learned that escape ain’t the same as bein’ saved
Now I rep the rock loud, let the echo fly free
Bowen Island, yeah, that’s the heart of me
[Chorus]
Bowen Island, rock in the Strait, no bluff
Salt air in my lungs, yeah, the current’s rough
From Snug Cove docks to the mountain’s spine
We grind like the ferry runnin’ outta time
[Outro]
No matter where I roam…
This island keep callin’ me home.
Bowen… forever. (Bowen Island) Rock in the Strait](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/JZQWZUK81Js/mqdefault.jpg)
