3:42.66. Josh Kerr just broke a mile record that stood for 27 years.

And respect where it's due: El Guerrouj ran 3:43.13 in 1999. No super spikes, no wavelight pacing, none of the tech we have now. That record surviving 27 years tells you how special it was.

Records like this aren't one thing. Kerr said it himself after the race: "Out there, I am just the body, but there is an incredible amount of work behind the scenes." Years of consistency did the heavy lifting.

But there's one detail I can't stop rewatching: his mechanics in the last 200m. Holding form like that while maximally fatigued tells you a lot about how he's built.
