In November 2013, New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham famously bent the field goal post at the Georgia Dome after throwing down a massive celebratory dunk following a 44-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees. The 6-foot-7, 265-pound former college basketball player wrapped his hands around the crossbar, and his momentum pulled the entire structure askew. The iconic celebration caused a 20-minute delay of game as stadium crew members rushed onto the field with a level and tools to pull the uprights back into alignment.
Prior to the 2014 NFL season, the league officially banned dunking the football over the crossbar or using the goalpost as a prop. The mandate was widely dubbed "The Jimmy Graham Rule" by media and players Under the rule, dunking on the goalpost is penalized as unsportsmanlike conduct, costing the team 15 yards and subjecting the player to a league fine. Graham didn't immediately give up his signature move. During a 2014 preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, he defiantly dunked twice anyway, drawing two penalties and racking up a $30,000 fine from the league.
