Hey, guys!
Well, this is a very special video to me, both because I finally edited with Jim/Twilight again (It had been over a year since I last did it, wow. I mean it still is one of my favorite friendship pairings) but also because it’s dedicated to my cousin. This year it’ll be 8 years since he passed away in 2008, and to be quite honest, it feels like it was just yesterday.
Jim - Me
Twilight - My cousin
Black and white - Past/Flashbacks
Story: Jim has always been best friends with Twilight, since he was just a kid. After she passes away (it’s not clear in the video what happened to her, so feel free to imagine whatever you want. Suicide, natural causes, murder, sickness, etc.) he just can’t seem to get over her death because she was a huge part of his life and he didn’t imagine having to live without her.
His mother Sarah is sad because she misses Twilight too, but mostly because she worries about Jim, afraid that he’ll never get over her. Jim overhears it when his mother’s friend says that he’ll be alright soon. It really upsets Jim because he feels like everyone around him seems to think he’s fine when he’s not, like they keep saying he'll be ok soon when he feels like never will be ok again.
In the end, Jim goes to a church where he visits Twilight’s grave and takes some time to think. He ends up realizing that even if life is hard without someone you loved, you’ve got to move on eventually. And the memories will always be there for you. They don't make the pain go away, but they certainly make it smaller.
Note: at 1:50 Twilight is just in Jim's memories. She did not appear to him or anything like that.
So, like I said, this is dedicated to my cousin.
He passed away in 2008, when I was only 10 years old. It was the very first time I lost someone that was actually close to me, and to this day I can remember how it felt when my parents gave me the news. It was really hard to understand at first, I felt like it wasn’t real and it took me months to accept/understand that he was gone.
My cousin was, and will always be, one of the most important people in my life. Great part of myself comes from him as we spent much time together alongside my siblings. He used to babysit us when my dad wasn’t home; and then he taught me a lot of stuff and he was a super fun to guy to have around – always making the mood a little better even when it was down. If you needed anything done, no matter what it was, he would gladly help. I remember this one time when I woke him up at 2am because I was hungry and even if he was tired he went to the kitchen and made me food.
He died at the age of 22 after getting hit by a car. He made it to the hospital but died there only a few hours later. I didn’t even get to go visit him when he was alive so this is why it pains so much, I never had a chance to say goodbye and we just could never expect his death. It felt wrong for him to die, because he was young and healthy. He was always there for me when I was sad, and I remember that crying when he died felt weird because for the first time, he wasn't there to comfort me.
I decided to make this little tribute for no reason other than the fact that I miss him a lot and had never done anything of the sort; so don't worry, I've already had time to get over his death.
These are some few personal details if you want to know them:
1. The phrases in the beginning were things that were said either by me or by some relative at his funeral.
2. The picture of them reading a book together represents us when I made him become a bookworm like I am. He didn't really enjoy reading before I convinced him to give it a try.
3. The flashback at 0:46 really happened. It was when our grandmother (who also passed away a few months later) got a new camera and asked us to pose for its very first picture. It was the last pic I ever took with him, and I kept it after he died.
4. The "How dare you" line means a lot to me and was the reason why I picked this song. To sum it up, I was angry at him for dying. I felt like it was his fault - he was gone and then I was alone. Now I realize how silly that was.
Well, that's it. I'd like to point out again that I'm not mourning, nor am I going through a rough phase because of his death. It was a long time ago, and I've gotten used to him not being here. But considering how much I love and miss him, I wanted to do something for him. Thanks for all the memories ♥
I hope you all enjoyed this!
