Peleliu – On September 28,1944 the 5th Marines were tasks with capturing the small island of Ngesebus and silence the artillery firing from there on to Peleliu. The island also had an airfield that was under construction. The island fell quickly to the Marines. Today you can find many bunkers, fighting positions and artifacts from the battle on the island.
