On April 9, 1952, former world middleweight champion Jake LaMotta faced Norman Hayes in a light heavyweight bout.

LaMotta won the fight via unanimous decision over 10 rounds, using his trademark pressure style and inside fighting to control the contest. Hayes proved durable and competitive, but LaMotta’s aggression and steady work rate secured the victory on the scorecards.

The bout came during LaMotta’s transition into the light heavyweight division following his middleweight title reign, highlighting his ability to compete against naturally bigger opponents.
