Evie (ChickasaurusGL) 🌺 | Itemfinder doesn't read nearby map connections (Generation I) (design flaw) @ChickasaurusGL | Uploaded January 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Found on pret Discord. This is another case of Generation I (and probably Generation II and not sure about other generations) weirdness, rather than a bug per se. On Route 12 (at y=63, x=02 precisely) is a Hyper Potion. Itemfinder will stop responding after walking at least 5 steps away north/south or west/east. Close by to the item (within the 5 step limit) is a west connection to Route 11 and its gate.
However, the Itemfinder fails to respond;
1. First it considers the nearby items for Route 11 (of which there are none), ignoring the fact that there is a connection to Route 12 with an item nearby.
2. Second, maps in Generation I/II are not exactly a 'web' like they are in Generation IV (why going out of bounds in certain places without map connections loads glitch map 0xFF, usually a freeze); the coordinates are relative to the current map with a given boundary for the connection. In this case going west of Route 12's x=02 will load Route 11's x=59; where x=60 is the east boundary for Route 11.
