Is the CHURCH INFALLIBLE for the Bible Says so? Or is the BIBLE INFALLIBLE for the Church Says so? Today we will go over one of the most subtle objections to Catholicism. How do we know that the magisterium of the Catholic church is infallible? The common answer is: Because Jesus says so in Matthew 16:19 and Matthew 18:18. But how do you know that Matthew is true? If we respond by saying that Matthew is true because the magisterium of the Catholic Church declared the gospel of Matthew a book inspired by God then we should admit that the Catholic position is flawed by a circular argument. But is it so? How can we respond to such an objection? Is the infallibility of the Catholic church based on a circular argument?
