Dr. Gavin Ortlund is one of the most famous and appreciated Protestant apologists out there and he just claimed that the Apostolic Church of the early centuries got corrupted by pagan influences that got incorporated in the theology of the saints, and Mariology in particular. Are these bold accusations of paganism even true? Can they be substantiated by historical evidence? Or are they just a gratuitous low blow to the Apostolic Church?
