I am VERY excited about today's video, it's kitsch, it's vintage, it's nostalgic... and it had me spending an entire day in the kitchen!
Because yes, we’re stepping way back in time for a whimsical twist on the classic summer picnic—with a healthy dose of culinary illusion! Inspired by the quirky charm of Is It Cake?, I’m recreating 5 adorable and nostalgic recipes from the 1930s to 1950s, each one more delightfully deceptive than the last.
From cucumber baskets filled with tuna mayo (hello 1935!) to a savoury sandwich “cake” frosted with cream cheese and topped with radish roses, these recipes are both charmingly retro and perfect conversation starters for your next warm-weather gathering.
