Okay my lovelies, this one's a big 'un.
Step back in time with me as I take on my biggest historical challenge yet: spending 72 hours as a 1940s Land Girl! 🌾✨
Join me from the moment I spot a Land Girl poster in a quaint post office shop window, to joining the register, receiving my uniform, and travelling by steam train—vintage suitcases in tow— to what feels like another word entirely, the Cutthorpe Creamery.
For three days, I lived and worked on the farm, joining the amazing farmer, Andrew, for knee-scuffing adventures of muddy wellies (or gum boots), fresh air, early mornings, and hard graft. From morning milking, to Land Girl life (and diet), and tentative tractor driving, I gain a tiny glimpse into the bravery and resilience of the women who served their country on the home front. A sacrifice especially poignant at Christmas.
A huge thank you to the Cutthorpe Creamery [cutthorpecreamery.co.uk/] and Andrew, who patiently guided this city girl through the whirlwind that is farm life , teaching me how essential—and often underappreciated—farmers truly are.
This challenge was exhilarating, emotional, and unforgettable. Watch as I dive headfirst into history, get a taste of wartime life, and discover a newfound respect for the women and farmers who kept the nation fed.
