The isle of Wight Steam Railway is a preserved section of a line formerly running between Ryde and Newport. Trains currently operate between Wootton Station where buses give access to Ryde and Newport and Smallbrook Junction where there is an interchange with electric trains on the Island Line. The line’s headquarters is at Havenstreet Station, 1½ miles from Wootton Station. Original IOW steam locos are present but were not running on the day of my visit. Motive power on this video consists of a Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST built 1953 and a 2-6-2T Ivat class 2 built 1952.
NOTE
The faint hum audible on the scenes shot at Smallbrook Junction is caused by a generator because the station is not connected to mains electricity.
