Diplomatic Immunity is the first album by the American hip hop group The Diplomats. It was released through The Island Def Jam Music Group, Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records, and Cam'ron's Diplomats Records. The album entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 8 and became the top-selling R&B/Hip-Hop album, selling 92,000 copies in its first week in the United States. By May 19, 2003, it achieved Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America for selling 500,000 units in the US alone. In 2012, Complex recognized the album as one of the classics from its decade.

The Diplomats, also known as Dipset, is a collective of American hip hop artists founded in 1997 by friends Cam'ron and Jimmy Jones, hailing from Harlem, New York. Initially, the group comprised Cam'ron, Jim Jones, and Freekey Zekey, all raised together in Harlem. Later, in 1999, Juelz Santana, another Harlem rapper, joined the crew. In 2001, after Cam'ron inked a deal, the group secured a record contract with Roc-A-Fella Records. They began crafting their debut album, Diplomatic Immunity, released in March 2003 under Roc-A-Fella Records. Due to conflicts between Cam'ron and Jay-Z, they departed from Roc-A-Fella Records and signed with Koch Records, a smaller label. Their second album, Diplomatic Immunity 2, hit the shelves in November 2004 under Koch Records.
