Amelia Eve stars as Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the very house she grew up in, when she discovers she has the ability to travel into The Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls at the center of the Insidious universe. But here’s the twist that changes everything: Gemma doesn’t just enter The Further, she can actually bring what lives there back into the real world. Once the demons realize she has this power, our world essentially becomes their playground, and things spiral into chaos fast. Lin Shaye is also returning once again as Elise Rainier, bringing that same franchise continuity horror fans have loved since the very first film.
This franchise has consistently delivered some of the creepiest imagery in modern horror, and this trailer is proving that Out of the Further is not holding back. Insidious: Out of the Further hits theaters August 21st.
