KUTV) A radio DJ has a life-changing illness that put him on a path he never expected.

Dusty Bee, 31, has been to the hospital dozens of times and undergone 12 major surgeries.

"I can't believe my life is where it's at," he said.

Yet through it all, Bee still talks about having a great day: "One smile, two smile, three. Be happy, have a great day."

Less than two years ago, Bee was at the top of his game as a radio DJ in Idaho Falls.

In May of 2015, while driving to Salt Lake from Idaho, a freak thing happened.
"I sneezed and coughed at the very same time and I felt a pop in my head -- didn't hurt or anything; I was fine," he said.

But he was not fine, as this father of two young boys quickly found out.
