Today, we’re visiting the Black Country Museum in Dudley, Birmingham. The Black Country Museum is a living Museum which means it has actors that transport you back in time.
Enter shops and houses, ride buses and fairground rides and see how they were back in the 1800s. Meet the locals and see what life was really like in the Black Country ‘back in the day’.

We checked out the the school, which is a must visit, but be warned… No talking! And make sure you don’t have any tattoos or nail varnish on show! We also visited the local bakery, the sweet show, a number of houses and an old fashioned fair. Finally after a long day, we got the old school bus back to the Black Country Living Museum car park.

Another mention would be the mines, a 30 minute tour around the Black Country Mines for ages 5 and up. Be ware though, it is very dark with very limited lights, but the tour guide keeps everyone safe and entertained for the 30 minute tour. We queues from the same point as the queue was in the video and it took around an hour to enter.

The Black Country Living Museum is in the Black Country which is just outside of Birmingham in the Dudly area. It’s perfect for kids and is a great day out for the whole family.

£70 for a family of 4 which kept everyone entertained from 10:30am until closing time at around 5pm. We would have stayed for longer if we had more time. The good thing about the Black Country Living Museum is that with the cost of a ticket you can visit as many times as you like within a 12 month period.

The Black Country Living Museum is a great day out for all ages, wether you’re interested in history or not it’s fun to walk around the time and meet the characters.
