This is American Airlines' new Boeing 787-9P and the P stands for premium and the Daily Drop team was invited to check it out before it enters service and it definitely lives up to that premium name. Up front you'll find a whopping 51 new flagship business class suites in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone configuration giving everyone direct aisle access and their own sliding door…perfect for introverts like me who don't want to talk to anybody on a long flight! American also took a page from airlines like JetBlue and Virgin Atlantic with 8 new Business Plus seats at the bulkheads. These come with 42% more space along with pajamas, and elevated bedding and amenity kits — halfway between business and first class. But that premium label doesn't just apply to the business class seats. Further back you'll find 32 premium economy seats in a 2-3-2 configuration sporting similar premium finishes as the business class seats we just looked at such as wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 13-inch 4K setback screen which isn’t bad for premium economy. Lastly, there are 143 standard economy seats in a 3-3-3 configuration with similar sleek finishes and upgraded tech. American has 30 of these jets on order with 8 entering service this year plus they'll be retrofitting some 777-300ERs and will have these new seats on the new Airbus A321XLRs. The new premium seats are incredible, but more importantly, they signal a broader shift as American aims to offer a more premium experience to better compete with Delta One and United Polaris. This plane starts flying on June 5 and if you want to experience it on the cheap, you can snag business class seats from Chicago O'Hare to LAX this summer for just 26,500 American AAdvantage miles plus $5.60 in taxes and fees. Let us know if you'd like us to give this new seat a proper try and learn more in our full article over on Daily Drop but
