![Find a practice you enjoy doing... - Lucas Hardie aka Range of Strength
This is a snippet of a conversation with Lucas Hardie aka @RangeOfStrength, a connoisseur and historian of old time unconventional lifts.
In observing and documenting fitness enthusiasts and athletes like him, I’ve come across four reasons one might stay consistent with their training:
1. A powerful WHY.
2. It’s become their identity.
3. Motivation to train is encoded in their DNA. They have no choice, they’re compelled to…just do it. This is part of what David Epstein calls the “Sports Gene.”
4. Training to them is fun. This is my favourite reason because if you can find someone’s “fun” you can get even the most reluctant movers moving. In my conversation with Lucas he helped me think of it in an alternative way - consistent exercisers are committed to avoiding boredom.
