Metal inputs are flat metal sources from various shapes. Using FLOW-3D CAST, They can be placed in different configurations along a casting part, and a comparison of the resulting outcomes can significantly speed up decisions in an early stage of development. This video demonstrates the filling of a pillar structure with three different ingate designs: versions 1 and 3 exhibit large, entrapped air regions, whereas version 2 achieves a smooth filling process, in which two continuously-flowing melt fronts merge effectively. Positioning the ingate in the central structure ensures that air is pushed out through the T-junction, allowing for easy evacuation.
