Get ready for a dose of honesty as I dive into the world of product reviews and sponsored videos. In this video, I'm being completely transparent about my experiences with sponsored content and product reviews, sharing the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you're curious about the reality of sponsored videos and product reviews, then this video is for you. Join me as I shed light on the often-misunderstood world of product endorsements and sponsored content, and let's get real about what it means to be honest in the world of product reviews.
Anyway, with the AI BS intro out of the way, which I'm only doing to test and see if it helps with the reach of the video. Here's my own words about the content of this video. BTW, the video title was also AI BS, I may change that later.
Basically, I'm talking about the way I handle product reviews where I have been given a product to review in exchange for my time that I did not get paid to review. I also make it clear that aside from technical details that I may be unaware of for the product being reviewed, or if the manufacturer would like to give details would help the viewer, such as discount codes etc. I do not allow manufacturers to have any input into my videos, they don't know what I am going to say and they only get to see the video once it goes live. I then talk about my disclosure policy for when I have been paid by a manufacturer for a sponsored advert slot in my videos.
Another important thing that I talk about is how I believe that YouTubers should be held more accountable for disclosure of the products they've been sent for review and also receiving money for sponsorships for their videos or being paid to make a review. In my opinion, YouTube itself should force YouTubers and creators to be totally honest about these things and to penalise them if they are not. I also believe that any form of product being received for the express purpose of a review, should be treated as sponsorship and be fully disclosed and documented as such.
I know a lot of YouTubers wont be happy about some of the things that I say in this video. However, I believe that these things need to have super clarity for the benefit of the viewer. And I would like to think that viewers would agree with me on the points of full disclosure and being super clear about any product being reviewed that have been sent for review, should be classed as a sponsored video.
Do most viewers care about such things? I don't know but I would like to think that certain viewers, especially those interested in buying the products being reviewed, would care for full disclosure. As this should help the viewer to balance their opinion of the information being given.
If anyone cares about such things and would like to hear my opinions on being paid for reviews. Or the amount of AI that YouTubers are now using to essentially create clickbait thumbnails and titles. Let me know in the comments and I will do some more similar videos. I appreciate that this video has been super long (boring 🤣), however, that's just me. Although, for similar videos in the future I could always just stick to one specific topic and try and make the videos shorter.
