So having taken my first look at the new Elgato Studio 1.1 update with the Elgato 4K X on my M4 Max MacBook Pro. In that video I mentioned that I would test the 4K X and the new Studio update with my MacBook Neo. As I'd already done a number of tests with the Neo and the 4K X with OBS and it didn't work recording 4K 60 FPS. I made a massive mistake and said that the Neo would not record 4K 60 FPS game capture and gameplay using the 4K X and Studio 1.1. How WRONG was I 🤣
So I decided to make a video about the Neo, 4K X and Studio 1.1 doing some game capture in 1080P 60FPS, because of my previous results with OBS I thought that this would definitely work, and it did. However, my curiosity got the better of me and I tried 4K 60FPS. How surprised was I when it worked.
Anyway, while I did make a big mistake and had jumped to the wrong conclusion about the Neo's abilities with the 4K X and Studio 1.1. I am delighted to be proven wrong and to show you that the MacBook Neo can indeed record 4K 60FPS gameplay using the Elagto 4K X paired with Elgato Studio 1.1.
It's also worth mentioning that the MacBook Neo is quite handy with DaVinci Resolve and can even edit 4K 60FPS gameplay that was captured internal using the AV1 codec with an Nvidia RTX 5080. More about that soon.
While you can't get better quality than uploading the original recording. I exported this video at 200Mbps using H.265, so the actual gameplay capture is very close to the original Studio 1.1/4K X capture. And although YouTube will reduce the quality, if you playback the 4K version, you should get a good idea of just how good the quality is of the original recording.
