My Review of the 1970 novel If Only They Could Talk by James Herriot. This book was the first in a six book series that was later made into films and a popular BBC TV series. It was released, combined with the second book (It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet) in the series as 'All Creatures Great and Small' in the USA.
Herriot is a newly qualified vet who practices in Yorkshire, in the north of England. There he meets a number of colourful characters and their animals and learns what it takes to be a vet.
