My review of The Saliva Tree, Brian Aldiss' pastiche of the work of H.G. Wells. This alien invasion story owes a huge debt to H.P. Lovecraft.
The Saliva Tree follows Victorian gentleman Greogory Rolles as he attempts to protect his friend and future wife from invisible aliens that have invaded (or potentially are on holiday in) England.
The Saliva Tree won the 1965 Nebula for best novella.
