Welcome back to our early morning seminary teacher training series! Building upon our previous discussion on context and content, this session explores how to use analyze questions to guide students from simply understanding a storyline to discovering and internalizing eternal truths.

Key Concepts Covered in This Training:
Identifying Gospel Principles and Doctrines: Once students develop an understanding of the scriptural context and content, they are fully prepared to identify eternal truths. Discover how analyze questions can "help students draw conclusions and articulate clearly the principles or doctrines found in the scripture block". For example, you might ask, "What doctrines concerning the nature of God can we learn from the First Vision?" or explore what lessons can be learned from the woman with the issue of blood.

The Crucial Step Before Application: Simply finding a principle is not the final goal. We emphasize that "students need to understand them before they can be meaningfully applied".

Grounding Truth in a Modern Context: Learn how to craft questions that "encourage students to think about a principle in a modern context". We explore practical examples, such as asking why praying always can provide the strength to overcome modern temptations like "speaking unkindly to others or participating in entertainment that is offensive to the Spirit".

Explaining Doctrine in Their Own Words: One of the most effective ways to deepen a learner's comprehension is to ask questions that "invite students to explain their understanding of a principle". See how powerful it can be to ask a student, "Using what we have learned in Alma 40, how would you explain the doctrine of resurrection to a friend who is not of our faith?"

Watch now to learn how to help your students clearly identify gospel truths and deeply understand them so they can meaningfully apply them to their daily lives!
