I woke up at 5:00 this morning and turned on the Icom 7300 tranceiver and I Thought " I wonder how well the 7300 will work on the standard old AM broadcast band today" and then I thought there are a lot of people with an IC7300 tranceiver or similar radio who would be interested in listening from time to time to the old AM Broadcast band . The 80 meter dipole was already connected and all that was required was to flip the coaxial switch from ground or as some would say Earth and over to the IC 7300 . Then selecting the 1.8 MHZ band all that was needed then was to tune down to the 550 to 1700 Khz to the Old AM broadcast band so at 5:30 in the morning I was enjoying listening to AM broadcast stations from all over the USA and some foreign stations as well Trying the 40 meter dipole which is 32 feet either side of center at 40 feet high it worked quite well too . AMAZING I thought the first station tuning down 10 KHZ from 1700 KHZ had an announcer speaking Mexican
Spanish so it may have been a station in Mexico I did not wait for station identification which may have been in english as well as Spanish . Very interesting ! and so tuning around was a fun interesting experience I was surprised to see how the stations were shown on the Spectrum display
every 10 KHZ Neat . Well this was a fun thing to do very enjoyable for me .
