This is a teaser clip from a new, upcoming interview with one of our younger SmartBody SmartMind (SBSM) alum, @jerika.alexis (on IG). Here she speaks about discovering the importance of anger and healthy aggression.

A quick note while I have you here: one confusion people have around the work I do (along with my more advanced somatic experiencing colleagues and trainers) is that what we do is only about mindfulness, sensing, and orienting. While these are certainly parts of the new traumatology work it is so much more than that, and then some.
Being able to sense a visceral burgeoning of genuine anger and healthy aggression (aka: you feel it rise in your guts) can take some decent time for a lot of people, especially when one was brought up in a homelife that was full of violence and abuse or, the flipside, one was around a family system that showed zero emotion or life force energy.
When we build foundational bodily awareness that includes, but is not limited to orienting, sensing one's impulses, noticing the ground under us, and how we think, we set the stage for diving deeper into the layers of the body that often hold old traumas and hurts that keep us stuck and sick.
All to say, I hope you watch this new interview with SBSM alumni, Jerika, when it comes out and for now, enjoy this short clip!
