Today we embark on a little journey into the past revisiting a short but incredibly influential period of time for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PC). And this journey takes us all the way back to 2016, the year in which brightness boosting was first discovered for the game and changed the way we speedrun it forever! But the brightness boosting trick that you know nowadays is actually not how it has always been. Now we have basically mastered the craft of gaining height through rapidly changing the brightness during a ledgegrab and through fast and practiced menuing it looks super smooth and makes the run incredibly fast paced and dynamic to play!
But there was this short but important time in Harry Potter 2 (PC) speedrunning history where all of those things we know very well now still had to be figured out. And you will notice that boosting looked A LOT different back in the day and was a ton slower than what you are used to nowadays. Which of course also meant that it was a lot less useful compared to nowadays and wasn't used on virtually every ledgegrab in Any% but instead had to be done a lot smarter and more selective to only do the biggest and most timesaving skips out there.
And I have to say that it was such a nice and refreshing throwback and blast from the past because even if I wasn't actively speedrunning at that time yet I still watched people do it already and recognized a lot of the struggles and issues I was having during this run again. Also as a sidenote, I also chose to ban Quidditch Warping to skip some level completely because it's just against the spirit of doing the old, manual boosting during this run. And on top of that this strategy hasn't even been found yet in 2016 either so to stay as true to the original 2016 experience I just ignored that the trick ever existed. I hope you are going to have fun with this nostalgic throwback that brings us almost a decade back in the history of Harry Potter Speedrunning! Thanks for watching and enjoy!

![Harry Potter 2 (PC) Bingo Speedrunning Tournament 2025 - Group Stage Day 5
And just like that we are nearing the end of the second weekend and with that also the end of the group stage already! And once again it all went by so incredibly fast since all the matches were just super exciting and close ones for us to enjoy. This will be a glorious day for some, making it out of groups in impressive fashion and maybe even out in first position which already places them all the way in the Quarterfinals! But it will also be a very sad day for some and also for us as the tournament audience since 8 people will unfortunately be out completely after the groupstage and we will have to wait another whole year to see them again in this tournament...
But man what absolutely exciting fights on this last day as well, there were a ton of matches I would have never expected to get quite this close and its just super awesome to see how everyone has improved even just from the first couple of days to this round and how well everyone performs. I can only imagine how stacked the groupstage is going to be for the next years tournament if even now its pretty hard to just make it out of groups with all the talent thats playing in them!
Very much looking forward to the Knock-out stage now where there are no second chances anymore, one loss and you are fully out of the tournament already! And we do have some exciting matches lined up across all pathways of the brackets so I have the slight feeling like there will be some super exciting banger matches happening all across the next weekend of Bingo! But until then have a good Bingo break and I really hope that you have enjoyed this video!
Big thanks to all the participants for their time!
