I was not entirely sure which WR to watch before going into this so we ended up settling on spectating one of Cyna's WRs for the first time followed by the very first WR of ComplexBeaver!
During Cyna's run you will notice that there aren't a giant amount of changes in strats compared to the last one we had watched but you could clearly tell how smooth and optimized everything has gotten throughout the past year and how confident everyone is at all the boosts and other strats now! It really filled my heart with joy to see some of the super old OG Speedrun strats for this game for the first time now, the kind of strats I learned when first getting into speedrunning for this game.
Before watching Beaver's run I kind of felt like there wasn't all that much improvement happening in the months since brightness Boosting was found but now we finally have a new big trick in the run: Quidditch Warping! Not quite to the same level of optimization that we do it to in modern runs and also not in all level it's useful in yet but it saves a ton of time already. But that was actually not all yet, Beaver shows off a ton of new optimizations and small but important improvements in his very first HP2 PC Any% WR run! That's the kind of slow but steady progress that intrigues me the most and makes it super interesting to watch runs like this back...
