Today we are playing some of the last reamining level that Human build for the Hard-Mod of Harry Potter 2 (PC) that he once envisioned. Unfortunately the Slytherin level had the exact same fate as the mod itself as in it never got finished fully. But if you expect it to be a really short and easy level now considering it's unfinished and that Slytherin isn't really a long level to begin with you would be severely mistaken!
Even though it's only the first half that's build he has really managed to make it a tough Challenge by straight up building a ton of his own parts to add to the Challenge making it a lot more difficult to get past the bridge in Slytherin. But the way he did it was actually exactly what I am always looking for in difficult "custom maps" like this!
The Level is a mix of just straight up oldschool difficult jumps either because they are far or because it needs some specific timing to make them well. Very rarely it was added difficulty through some weird and sort of random stuff so I really really enjoyed my experience with this map! Super cool to see this with a bit of a change of Layout as well and all the Jump & Run that we had to do during this was just a blast and super well balanced difficulty wise! I think I would give this (first half) of the unfinished Slytherin a very good 8/10, I still very much hope that Human will return to this project eventually and give us a full Hard Mod for this game...
We also played through a "Hard Chamber" and I absolutely loved the Challenge in that Map, perfect level of difficulty to be tough but not completely impossible to beat. Jump & Run is usually my favorite in those kind of levels anyways because it's a great way to actually show of Skill at the game. Super creative to change the final area of the game in this way (and extend it by a lot at the same time) and I had a great time discovering and beating the map. Surprisingly feel like I did pretty well, apart from some stupid deaths and sort of unfair traps I got through everything quite nicely!
I would rate that map 9/10, definitely one of my favorite Hard Mod Maps that we have ever played on the Channel and the perfect difficulty to be super fun for me. I also liked the Level building itself and the secret pathways it send us on, would love to play more in this exact style!
And well the "Hard Willow" Level also existed but I have to admit that it was probably the hard Map that I ended up enjoying the least mostly because there really wasn't much to it. Everything was pretty straight forward and kind of easy even until we got to the Willow Skip Segment that you would normally do in a Glitchless Speedrun. Unfortunately he put an extra block in the way though making the jump around the tree trunk like usual incredibly difficult and super annoying to attempt. I feel like the level of difficulty was a little bit too high in this particular spot so I probably wouldn't rate this higher than a 6/10, that jump must have been weirdly frame perfect somehow as even the creator struggled with getting it again...
