What’s up guys, welcome back to the farm! Today’s video is a big one for me personally—we hit a huge milestone. Rocky Mountain Farmer officially crossed 100,000 subscribers, and I got to unbox our very first YouTube Silver Play Button! 🎉 None of this would’ve been possible without all of you watching, commenting, and supporting the channel. Thank you for letting us share our farm life and helping us teach where food really comes from—whether it’s potatoes, grain, or hay.
After the unboxing, it’s straight back to work. My tractor decided to act up when the wheel angle sensor fried, so John Deere was out here fixing that so I could get back to rolling vines. At the same time, Ron’s Tires was busy swapping out one of the giant back tires on the harvester, semis were hauling potatoes, Josh was unbolting beds to swap trucks from manure/wheat duty to potato beds, and Trevor was hauling hay. Grandpa even stopped in to check on the potato piles. It’s safe to say—it’s a busy morning.
We head down to the cellar to check progress. They’re about halfway done hauling out last year’s crop—cutting it close with new harvest just two weeks away. The pile looks good overall, with a few sprouted and wrinkly ones mixed in, but that’s fine since they’re all headed for processing.
Out in the field, I’m rolling vines and sealing cracks to keep the potatoes from greening. We talk about why potato ground has to be worked deep with chisels (no-till just doesn’t cut it for spuds). I also share how a surprise 2½-inch rainstorm hit us hard—turning fields into mud and knocking out a few days of work. You’ll see Josh discing through the downpour and what it looked like when everything plugged up with mud.
By the end of the video, we’re pushing forward—tractor codes cleared (for now), pivots moving, fields getting finished, and 500 acres of vines rolled so far. Harvest is right around the corner, and there’s still plenty to do to get everything ready.
