I changed my mind.
A few months ago, my ranking of the tanks in WoW Midnight would have looked very different. Since then we've had buffs, nerfs, talent changes, hero talent adjustments, dungeon changes, tank tuning and a whole lot more actual playtime. And after spending far more time tanking in 12.0.7 than I ever expected, some specs have climbed the rankings while others have fallen.
So it's time for an updated Most Fun Tanks Tier List.

This is NOT a meta tier list.
We're not ranking tanks based on Raider.IO scores, Mythic+ leaderboards or raid performance. Instead, we're ranking them based on what actually makes a tank fun to play: gameplay flow, class fantasy, talent choices, survivability, utility, skill expression and that feeling that makes you want to queue for "just one more key".

Some tanks surprised me a lot.
Blood DK continues to deliver that unique self-sustain gameplay that no other tank can replicate. Guardian Druid finally feels closer to the fantasy many druid players have wanted for years. Protection Warrior remains one of the smoothest and most responsive tanks in the game, while Protection Paladin continues to walk the fine line between amazing utility and being made of paper.
Then there's Vengeance Demon Hunter... a tank that completely changed my opinion thanks to recent design changes and hero talent interactions.
Meanwhile, Brewmaster Monk remains one of the most unique tanks in World of Warcraft, even if it doesn't quite hit the same highs for me that it once did.
Whether you're looking for the most fun tank class, trying to decide which tank to main in WoW 12.0.7, or simply curious where your favorite spec lands in the Midnight tank tier list, hopefully this ranking helps you find something you'll genuinely enjoy playing.
Because at the end of the day, being the "best tank" doesn't matter much if you're not having fun.
๐ฎ Tanking in Midnight is in a much better place than it was earlier in the expansion, and honestly, this might be the most fun I've had tanking in a very long time.
