Which Melee DPS specs are actually the EASIEST to play in WoW 12.1 and which ones will make you work for every bit of damage?
With Midnight Season 2 here, we're ranking every 12.1 Melee DPS from EASIEST to HARDEST, looking beyond raw damage and the usual DPS meta to see how difficult these specs actually are to play properly.

We're looking at rotational complexity, resource management, cooldowns, utility, tier set interactions and how punishing each spec can be when things don't go according to plan.
Unholy Death Knight might be the biggest surprise, becoming one of the easiest melee DPS specs to pick up in 12.1. Retribution Paladin, Fury Warrior and Subtlety Rogue are also incredibly approachable if you're looking for something easier to play in Season 2.
Specs like Frost DK, Feral Druid, Survival Hunter, Assassination Rogue and Arms Warrior land somewhere in the middle, offering some additional depth without completely frying your brain.
Then we get to 12.1 Havoc Demon Hunter, Enhancement Shaman, Outlaw Rogue and Windwalker Monk, where additional mechanics, priority systems, cooldown interactions and rotational decisions push the difficulty considerably higher. Outlaw in particular can punish mistakes pretty hard, while Windwalker has surprised us with just how much depth it has in 12.1.
