Hunter Original 52" ceiling fan in bright brass. I recently went on an actual vacation with family, and while I don't do a ton of active collecting or searching for fans outside of Cleanup Week these days, I of course have to hit up some Habitats when I'm able to get out of my regular locale. This Original was one of only two worthwhile and well-priced things I grabbed from a 50% off sale. So many overpriced Habitats these days, otherwise there was other stuff I'd have considered getting. This is a 2003 import model, but seems to have been well-maintained and cared for. I was pretty much going to get it regardless of anything, since Originals are so hard to come by in my area. First and foremost, it has a VERY stubborn wobble/sway, and this is the best I could get it. I spent way too long on it. Weighed the blades, mixed up the install pattern, adjusted the arms, made sure it wasn't the rotor just being out of balance, added extra weights in attempt to rebalance the entire load. In the end I simply had to move along, so just know I am not happy with where I had to settle on that. Of course oil had spilled everywhere, so I pretty much had to break the entire thing down to clean it out. Minimal shaft wear, very clean overall. Finish is in decent condition, a few blemishes and flaking away of the tinted lacquer on a few parts. It originally came with a generic style Hunter 4 arm light, but you can guess that it was entirely mangled and unsalvageable from being set down on. I added this spare Hunter kit I have, but used the glass it came with because I think this look is very quintessential mid-2000s, right on the very tail end of polished brass finishes being prevalent. While this one is not the correct generation, 5 blade bright brass Originals are very childhood for me as there were two in a Village Inn restaurant my family frequented for weekend breakfasts, so I'm happy to finally have something that achieves the look in my collection. That building is now a bank branch, but they had already remodeled in the mid 2000s and removed the fans. I was heartbroken at the time, and it was just a little before I went full throttle into ceiling fan collecting so it still breaks my soul a little bit that I so narrowly missed the possibility of inquiring or checking the dumpsters, etc.
