A comic book bag burns (or melts) under a flame. But there is a way to preserve it, just like the Human Torch can preserve his costume. If you fill the bag with water, and try burning it, it will never melt because the water absorbs the heat, instead of the plastic, so the plastic never burns. The temperature of the water increases, but not enough to melt the bag. The black sooth on the bag is due to impurities in the butane from the lighter that is burning.
