Inflated balloons are shrivelled in liquid nitrogen (Nitrogen boiling point −195.8 °C or −320.4 °F). Once put back at room temperature, the balloons inflate again like new Gizmo being born. According to Charles' Law, a gas expands as the temperature increases. In other words, a decrease in temperature will lead to a decrease in volume. This is what happens here. The balloons contain a gas. Since these balloons are chilled, their volume decreased, to almost look as if they were deflated. Since the room temperature is much higher than the temperature of the liquid nitrogen, the gas in the balloon heats up quickly and expands. This gives the visual effect of the balloon inflating themselves, or Gizmos being born. If you don't feed them after midnight, they shouldn't turn into Gremlins.
