When Arnold Schwarzenegger fights his iconic extraterrestrial foe in the Predator, it bleeds green florescent blood. The effect can be reproduced in the lab by separating the chemicals inside a commercial glow stick. Applying the transparent peroxide solution on the skin and the dye on the knife, and then pretending to cut yourself, will generate the bright signature liquid.

The blood red color comes from thiocyanatoiron ions. The skin was rubbed with a paper towel soaked with a solution of thiocyanate ions, and the knife was covered with a solution of iron(III) ions, which has a light yellowish color. When the solutions are combine, these ions react together to form blood red [Fe(SCN)]2+ ions, reproducing the effects seen in movies such as Terminator, Predator, Braveheart and many more.
