A neighbour's old desktop PC showed strange behaviour. More often than not, it would not start and just show a black screen. It would not POST.

I fixed it by changing a capacitor in the proprietary power supply. Not the most exciting repair but I thought I would document the process.

The PC is an old Pentium Dual Core HP Pavilion Slimline desktop S3714UK but the principle would hold true for newer machines as well.
