Thirty years ago, wolves were reintroduced to **Yellowstone National Park** and triggered one of the most important ecological recoveries ever recorded. Through a powerful **trophic cascade**, wolves changed elk behaviour, restored riverbanks, brought back trees and beavers, and ultimately healed the rivers themselves.
Now, on the 30 year anniversary of that success, wolves are at risk once again. Politicians are pushing to remove protections under the **Endangered Species Act**, opening the door to widespread killing and population collapse.
If these protections are lost, the damage will spread far beyond Yellowstone, threatening the survival of the **Red Wolf** and **Mexican Wolf**, two of the most endangered wolves on Earth.
