Did you know the Home Office has licensed a company to terminally anaesthetise healthy beagles, collect the maximum volume of blood from them, and then kill them?
That company is MBR Acres, based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Most people know it as a breeder of laboratory beagles. Fewer know that its Home Office licence also authorises terminal blood collection on up to 250 adult dogs over five years, as well as a live donor programme where some dogs can have blood taken repeatedly within specified limits.
I’m speaking out because MBR Acres reported one of my reels to the police for being false, however after I presented the evidence behind my claims, the case was closed by the police with no further action. That has only strengthened my determination to keep sharing factual, evidence-based information and to evoke my right to Free Speech.
These beagles are not protected under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 in the same way as our pet dogs. Instead, these procedures are authorised under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
