For Lea, UW-Milwaukee provided the guidance, mentorship and real-world experience to turn her passion for trauma-informed care into meaningful work in Milwaukee.
During her undergraduate and master’s studies, Lea focused on trauma-informed care, substance abuse and leadership development. Advisors and faculty helped her refine her purpose and build the skills to mentor at-risk youth, ultimately leading to the creation of Under My Wing, a nonprofit focused on mentorship and community workshops.
Lea plans to continue her work in Milwaukee after graduation, applying her social work training to foster leadership, healing and wellness in her community.
