Need help using the Android Clock app? In this beginner tutorial, I’ll show you how to use the major features inside the Clock app, including Alarms, Timers, Stopwatch, World Clock, and the important alarm settings you should check so you actually wake up on time.
The Google Clock app includes alarms, timers, stopwatch, World Clock, bedtime features, sleep sounds, upcoming events, and Wear OS support for alarms and timers. In this guide, I’ll walk through the main tabs and explain what each one does.
First, I’ll show you how to create a new alarm, edit an existing alarm, choose the time, turn alarms on or off, set repeat days, change the alarm sound, enable vibration, and delete old alarms you no longer need. Google’s Android alarm help page also notes that if two alarms are set too close together, the first one may be canceled, so it recommends leaving at least a 5-minute window between alarms.
Then I’ll show you one of the most important settings: alarm volume. If your alarm volume is too low, you may sleep right through it. Google’s own alarm troubleshooting warns that if your alarm volume is below 30%, it may be too low and you should increase the volume so you don’t miss your alarm. So in the video, I’ll show you how to check your alarm volume and turn it up before trusting your phone to wake you up.
I’ll also cover timers, which are great for cooking, workouts, breaks, laundry, studying, and quick reminders. You can set a timer, pause it, restart it, stop it, and use multiple timers depending on your phone and Clock app version.
Next, I’ll show how to use the stopwatch to measure time, record laps, pause, resume, and reset. This is useful for workouts, testing, speed runs, productivity, cooking, or anything else where you need to measure elapsed time.
I’ll also go over the World Clock feature, which lets you keep track of different time zones and cities around the world. This is useful if you work with people in other countries, watch international events, travel, or just want to know what time it is somewhere else.
Finally, I’ll cover extra Clock app features like bedtime settings, sleep sounds, alarm sounds, snooze, vibration, Google Assistant routines, and quick troubleshooting if your alarm does not go off.
