In this video I will show you how to build a smart IOT security camera that sends text notifications! This project uses a dollar store dummy camera and a few cheap electronic parts, most importantly the ESP8266. This is a perfect addition to any IOT home automation security system!
This security camera will allow you to receive email or text notifications when an intruder trips the motion sensor. The Wemos D1 Mini is the heart of this project and allows for WiFi connectivity to push notifications through the AdafruitIO and IFTTT service.
I will walk you through step by step how to set up the hardware, programming, and AdafruitIO / IFTTT accounts. As an added bonus, I will show you how to use the WiFi Manager library with AdafruitIO so that you do not have to reprogram your project if your WiFi credentials change.
