Whether you developed it from standing for a long time, walking or running, plantar fasciitis (sometimes called plantar fascia or heel spurs) can be very painful. Physiotherapist, Jean Lewis shows us how you can treat plantar fasciitis easily at home.
Plantar Fasciitis or heel spurs is a common complaint for runners and walkers. It can be caused by the arch of the foot not being properly supported or if your running or walking shoes are not providing sufficient support. Symptoms might feel like you have stiffness or pins and needles in your heel when you put weight on your feet - especially those first few steps of the day. You may also experience swelling in the arch and stiffness of the calf and Achilles.
Treatment doesn't have to come from a bottle! Check out this simple stretch and massage technique that'll help heal that painful heel. All you need for this treatment is a wall and a ball. Take 60 seconds to find out how easy it can be to cure what ails you and get back to your running sooner.
Special thanks to Jean, Melina & the folks at Gastown Physio & Pilates in Vancouver, BC!
