Do you have some Christmas decorations that you want to stiffen? Maybe you followed a crochet snowflake pattern and now have a limp snowflake, but want to put it on your tree.
Which stiffening method works best for Christmas crochet decorations? Starch? PVA glue? Sugar?
I tried them all out, so I can tell you from first-hand experience which is best for which application.

Make a quick and easy and super customizable hat or beanie using this easy pattern. Pick your size and whip it up. Go find some chunky yarn in your stash, an 8 mm hook, and get busy.
You can add cute embroidered motifs to the main section of the hat, or you could just skip the embroidery and use this as a regular hat.

You could even replace the simple stitches in the middle part of the hat with other stitch combinations that make a prettier fabric if you do not intend to embroider on it.
It is even possible to adapt this pattern to other yarn weights, by making more stitches in the main part and working more pattern repeats.
Your imagination is the only limit.
In the PDF pattern, youll have a size chart with stitch numbers, full instructions, photos and charts to make your hat as cute as you want to.

Learn how to begin a row without using chains. This stitch is perfect to keep the edges of your work straight and elegant.
Standing double crochet stitches (standing treble crochet stitches in UK terms) are great to start any row that consists of double crochet stitches.
Its quick, beautiful, and looks exactly like a double crochet stitch.
It is also thicker than a chain, so it it perfect for working in the round, as the first stitch on the round will be invisible.
