About this video: In this video, we will show you exactly how to play Minecraft modpacks on macOS. We will be using the CurseForge app because it supports all of the most popular Minecraft modpacks and works incredibly well on Mac.
To get started, click the link in the description to download CurseForge. That will take you to our website where you can click the download button to go to the official download page. From there, click the "Download for macOS" button, and the .dmg file will download. Open that file, and then drag and drop CurseForge into your Applications folder.
Once that's done, open the CurseForge application. When you first open it, Minecraft will be grayed out. Click on it, select Standard, click Continue, and then select to play using the Mojang Launcher. This is Minecraft's official launcher rather than launching directly with CurseForge.
After that's set up, you will land on your My Modpacks tab. To find a modpack, search for it at the top. For example, you could search for All the Mods, Better Minecraft, RLCraft, Homestead, or any other Minecraft modpack you want. Once you find the modpack, click the Install button, and it will immediately start downloading and installing on your Mac.
From there, go back to the My Modpacks tab. Once the modpack is finished installing, hover over it and click the Play button. The Minecraft launcher will open, and you will need to log in. This is the default Minecraft launcher that you are used to using.
Next, go to the Minecraft Java Edition tab on the left-hand side of the launcher and click Play. Click Play again to confirm you're playing with mods, and your modpack will open on your Mac.
Generally, modpacks perform decently on Mac. The newer and better your Mac, the better Minecraft will run, especially with lots of mods installed. However, you now know how to download and install modpacks for Minecraft on macOS.
